Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM)
When mailing to an organization’s donors, our primary goal is to raise net revenue. However, a mail campaign can also promote an organization’s mission in other important ways. Such was the case with the September 2006 mailing for the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM).
PCRM – an organization that works to end animal testing - was engaged in a battle with Covance, one of the largest and wealthiest animal testing companies in the U.S. PCRM needed to raise money and mobilize its members to rally citizen support in the town where Covance was trying to build a new testing facility.
Lautman Maska Neill & Company developed a powerful mailing that was executed quickly and inexpensively. In addition to a letter with an urgent appeal, the package included a petition to the town’s city council that donors were asked to sign and return with their contributions.
The package was a great success financially, raising 82% more revenue than projected. Furthermore, PRCM received thousands of petitions and located hundreds of members who could support their efforts on the ground. The influx of revenue and grassroots support helped PCRM combat an enemy with unlimited resources.
